Reading the Board — Chapter 7 | PocketCherries™ Beginner Course
In Texas Hold’em, your final hand is the best five-card combination drawn from your two hole cards plus the five community cards on the board. You can use both hole cards, just one, or even none. This chapter teaches you how to find that best combination and how to spot dangerous board textures that could give opponents strong holdings.
What You Will Learn
- How to combine hole cards and community cards to find your strongest five-card holding.
- What it means to “play the board” when your hole cards do not improve the community cards.
- How to spot flush draws on the board: three or more cards of the same suit.
- How to spot straight draws: three or more consecutive ranks on the board.
- Practice scenarios with worked examples for pairs, trips, straights, and flushes.
This chapter takes approximately 10 minutes. When you finish, continue to Chapter 8: You’re Ready! or return to the course hub.
