How SMS Opt-In Works

PocketCherries offers an optional texting feature: players can link their US mobile number to text themselves poker study notes and get coaching replies back by SMS. This page documents exactly how consent is collected before any message is sent. Texting is optional, the app works fully without it, and consent is never a condition of using the site or making a purchase.

Step 1: Web Form With Explicit Consent

The opt-in form lives inside the poker game at pocketcherries.com/play, under the in-game menu, in the "Link your phone" dialog. The player enters their US mobile number and must check a consent box that is unchecked by default and reads:

"I agree to receive text messages from PocketCherries at this number (verification code, note confirmations, and coaching replies to my texts). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP any time to opt out, HELP for help."

The "Text me a code" button stays disabled until the box is checked; entering a phone number alone never enrolls anyone. Links to the privacy policy and terms of service are shown with the form.

Step 2: Double Opt-In Verification

We then text a one-time 6-digit code: "Your PocketCherries verification code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help." The phone number is linked only after the player enters the correct code back into the form, confirming they own the number and agreed to the program.

What Subscribers Receive

A verification code when linking, confirmations of study notes the player texts us, and coaching replies to questions the player texts us first. No marketing or promotional messages, ever.

Frequency, Rates, and Opting Out

Message frequency varies and is mostly driven by the texts the player sends; daily limits apply. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
