Betting Actions — Chapter 5 | PocketCherries™ Beginner Course
On every betting round, each active player must choose one of five actions. This chapter explains exactly what each action means, when it is available, and how to use it effectively. Scenario quizzes reinforce the concepts before you move on.
The Five Actions
- Check — Pass the action with no bet. Only available when no one has bet yet on the current street.
- Bet — Open the betting when no bet is currently active.
- Call — Match the current bet to stay in the hand.
- Raise — Increase the current bet, forcing opponents to call, re-raise, or fold.
- Fold — Discard your cards and forfeit the pot. You lose chips already committed but risk no more.
This chapter also covers the all-in move: wagering your entire stack at once. This chapter takes approximately 8 minutes. When you finish, continue to Chapter 6: Position or return to the course hub.
