Welcome to Poker — Chapter 1 | PocketCherries™ Beginner Course

This is the first chapter of the free PocketCherries™ beginner course. It introduces the standard 52-card deck, the four suits, card ranks from 2 to Ace, and the overall goal of Texas Hold’em: make the best five-card combination or convince everyone else to fold before the showdown.

What You Will Learn

• The 52-card deck: four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades) and thirteen ranks each.
• Why suits are equal in Texas Hold’em — only relevant for flushes.
• Card rank order from 2 (lowest) through Ace (highest), including the Ace’s dual role in low straights.
• The core objective: make the best five-card hand from your two hole cards and the five community cards.
